apr. 19-23rd, 2025: reel icefield traverse (6 spots available)
DAY 1: Drive as high as possible, and then ski over to Reel Lake through two mountain passes (this may take 2 days depending on snow conditions). 1,100m descent down to the lake.
DAY 2: Either reach Reel Lake or day tour out of Reel Lake area. There are several North-facing runs, frozen waterfalls and an ice cave to explore.
DAY 3: Travel up onto the Reel Icefield for a high-elevation camp. Summit Reel Peak if time allows. This is our biggest day with 1,100m to the icefield and an additional 300m to summit the peak.
DAY 4: First choice is to remain on the Icefield and summit 2 other peaks for N-facing ski runs. If conditions do not allow, we’ll descend The Gauntlet and traverse over to the Bench Lakes for camp. Another option is to attempt a new line off the massif down to Horsey Cr.
DAY 5: Exit either through The Gauntlet and over an Unnamed Pass or return via the Bench Lakes area and the trail back to the vehicle.
