apr. 19-23rd, 2025: reel icefield traverse (6 spots available)
DAY 1: Drive as high as possible, and then ski over to Reel Lake through two mountain passes (this may take 2 days depending on snow conditions). 1,100m descent down to the lake.
DAY 2: Either reach Reel Lake or day tour out of Reel Lake area. There are several North-facing runs, frozen waterfalls and an ice cave to explore.

DAY 4: First choice is to remain on the Icefield and summit 2 other peaks for N-facing ski runs. If conditions do not allow, we’ll descend The Gauntlet and traverse over to the Bench Lakes for camp. Another option is to attempt a new line off the massif down to Horsey Cr.
DAY 5: Exit either through The Gauntlet and over an Unnamed Pass or return via the Bench Lakes area and the trail back to the vehicle.

frequently asked questions:
Do we need to know how to drive a snowmobile? Is it hard?
Not at all! We will teach you how to drive the sled and we remain on trails only. We only use the machines to gain access to the goods.
Do we get our own sled?
You will get a chance to drive one, if you’d like. We typically ride two to a machine so often one person drives up the trail, and the other drives back down.
Are we ski touring or do you drive us to the top of a run and we get to ski down?
Although there may be a chance to get a quick ride to the top of a ski run, most of the time we just sled to a destination and then ski from there using skins.
I don’t have my AST1 yet nor do I have a backcountry touring setup. Can I still come? Are splitboarders able to join?
Absolutely! We highly recommend you take our AST1 course before ever going out into the backcountry; however anyone is able to join us. We have all kinds of rental gear, from avalanche safety gear to ski touring skis and skins. All you need is a boot with walk mode and a helmet and we’ll take care of the rest. And snowboarders are always welcome on our ski tours :)
Where do you usually go skiing?
We have a ton of terrain to choose from around here. Location is based on current weather and avalanche conditions. One of our favourite places to take guests is up McBride Peak on the Canadian Rockies side of the Robson Valley. It’s close to town, a quick sled ride up to treeline and accesses days of ski terrain with minimal sled traffic. We also really enjoy going up Lucille Peak with beginners and the Dore Rd on the Cariboo Mountains side where incredible glacier skiing can be found.
Is the snow really that good in McBride?
Yes! Although we are noticing some changes in recent years, we are typically known for a deep and reliable snowpack, usually around 200cms at treeline and more up high. Belle Mtn. is often accessible until the end of April, so we have a nice long season of skiing here.
